Lucy’s is the brainchild of mother-daughter team Patti and Megan Dorris. For years they have had a passion for shopping and spotting the unique and unusual. They have travelled around the world always looking for fun and unique locally owned shops.

Eventually they began to wonder why not open their own store and provide the people of Bowling Green with something new and different. Why search high and low for unique items when you could just bring it all here?

Both women have dabbled in retail since their teen years (Patti’s first retail job was working in a locally owned hardware store that also housed fine china.) So after much thought Patti decided to retire her dental hygiene license and open her own store.  She asked her daughter Megan, a recent Centre College graduate, to become her partner. Megan was more than happy to set her English Literature degree aside and lend her hand at running the family business.

When it came to picking a name there was only one logical choice: Lucy’s. Many believe the store is named after the family pet. However, Lucy is actually Megan’s nickname given to her by her father when she was a baby. (Lucy the dog came later) In June of 2007, Megan and Patti fulfilled their dream and opened Lucy’s Fine Gifts.
Don’t forget to say hello to our store dogs, Lucy and Ethel. They might bark, but they just want to welcome you to the store!
